The refining process releases a number of different chemicals into the atmosphere, and a notable odour normally accompanies the presence of a refinery. In addition to air pollution impacts there are also wastewater concerns, risks of industrial accidents such as fire and explosion, and noise health effects due to industrial noise.

Safe unloading of crude oil

Crude oil is brought to the sites in ocean tankers by sea. Wind measurement is crucial in ensuring safe passage for the tankers, and unloading of their crude oil.

Ultrasonic wind sensors are more robust than mechanical types, providing greater performance reliability. With no moving parts or re-calibration required, maintenance is considerably reduced, as is the through life cost when compared to mechanical wind sensors.
